When we acquired the land at the end of 2003, we were immediately won over by wild beauty of the area, its wide and varied biotope, the rainforest running alongside the coast, the huge mangrove joining the meandring River Butre, and the wildlife which thrives there…
Not to mention this glorious beach lined with coconut trees, an untounched paradise where sea turtles come there to lay their eggs (Luth Turtles, Green Turtles). And then, from October to December, the bay welcomes the coming and going of the whales.
Conscious of the fragile beauty of this ecosystem, we are doing our best to inform and make the locals, the chief as well as the tourists aware of the importance of preserving this natural resource.
This also involves us carefully choosing the materials required for the construction of our lodge. The material comes solely from factories which can guarantee the legality of their wood. Natural (chalk based paints are used for the mud bricks which are crafted by hand on site. the straw for the roofs is harvested from our land.. All of these materials, adapted to the climate, guarantee harmony and comfort whilst respecting the environment.
This constant attention to detail can also be found in our cuisine: a clever combination of the exotic local flavours and of cooking which is as sophisticated as french.
Our efforts are focused on the well being and pleasure of our customers whilst guaranteeing the continuity of this fantastic beach.
Fanta’s Folly is registered in the code of responsible tourism . We are careful not to spoil the area with concrete buildings. Instead, our option is a small, intimate family structure favouring human contact, far from mass tourism.
